With over 30 years experience in the culinary, restaurant and hospitality industry, Matthew Babbage continues to
bring his talent, creativity and passion to cooking.
Born in Friendship, New York, Matthew's culinary aptitude was influenced at an early age while helping to cook
for his large family in an upstate farming community. Babbage went on to graduate from Alfred State College with
an associate's degree in Restaurant & Hotel Management.
Pursuing his craft, Matthew lent his talents to Marriott Hotels as an executive chef; to British Airways & Air
France as an in-flight kitchen executive chef; and to the Holiday Inn Stadium, Philadelphia as an acquisition
executive chef. He also worked as culinary supervisor, cooking for a variety of sport franchises, major business
owners, renowned musicians and fans at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. In 2008, as the Executive Chef
at World Café Live, he accommodated guests and artists from all over the world.
In 2009, Babbage accepted an executive chef position with ARAMARK Corporation to work at New York University.
His managerial and financial skills coupled with his culinary experience help him operate a fast-paced kitchen
environment while accommodating students from culturally diverse and international backgrounds. Recently,
Matthew completed the Pro Chef II Certification at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, allowing
him also to become Certified Chef de Cuisine with the American Culinary Federation.
Throughout his culinary career, Babbage has taught cooking classes and prides himself on teaching his students
to utilize local, seasonal ingredients creating delicious dishes for themselves, friends and family.
Additionally his classes teach classical and new cooking techniques, encouraging students to experiment with
ingredients and presentation.
Matthew is married to celebrity pet expert and author Charlotte Reed. Together they share their home with four
English Toy Spaniels, two cats and one parrot.
